P.R.O. Transfer fabric with In-R-Cool® and Minerale™ technology provides optimal cooling and reflective sun protection P.R.O. Transfer with Minerale™ Direct-Vent Bib Anatomic multi-panel design Silicone leg gripper with welded construction Anatomic P.R.O. Seamless 4D Chamois® Reflective elements for low-light visibility 9 1/4“ inseam [size medium]Use simple detergents with no additives:Never use detergents with fabric softeners, perfumes or any additive type product. The general rule of thumb is the simpler the better. Many detergents with additives leave "surfactants" behind on a fabric's fibers that inhibit the technical performance. Typically the best detergents to use will have "Clear" or "Free" in their names. Don't pour the detergent directly onto the clothing, put it in the washer first, when you start the water. If something is not functionally working, but is not dirty, try rinsing it twice in warm to hot water. This will help get rid of the harmful surfactants. Read the care content label:On the inside of your garment, or on the hangcard, there are instructions for the care of that individual piece. On garments this will be on a side seam or back seam label. Follow those directions. On finer fabrics, use a "Gentle" cycle. Close all zippers, attach "hook and loop" closures on gloves You can use the dryer, carefully: If you use a dryer be sure to use a lower / warm heat setting (Do NOT use a commercial dryer or a "Hot" setting). This will often restore the fabric and help the water and wind repellent qualities. If in doubt, hang the clothing to dry. The legendary fit, performance, and durability and comfort of this the best selling P.R.O. Leader lever Bib Shortclassic style is further optimized with the addition of our In-R-Cool®™ technology and and fast- drying Transfer Minerale™ bib.

I've had the P.R.O. InRcool bib shorts for about two months and have ridden them once or twice a week for distances of 40 to 70 miles at a time. Today I noticed that there is a hole in the fabric near the chamois in the groin area. When looking at them a little more closely, I noticed that the fabric had frayed very badly. While I like the garment, they wear very poorly compared to my Specialized Pro RBX shorts. UPDATE (10/7/12): Shortly after writing this review in July 2012, I called Amazon to see if I could return the shorts. They stuck to their returns policy (I can't fault them for that) and would not allow a return. I called Pearl Izumi to see how they handle the lifetime warranty that supposedly goes with their garment and was told I could return the shorts to be patched. If I had been offered a replacement, I might have done it. I asked a manager at a local bike shop about these shorts and another pair of Pearl Izumi I bought from his shop that also had worn through - he gave me full credit for both pairs! I applied my credit toward a new version of the Specialized RBX shorts and am very happy. The Specialized RBX has denser padding in the chamois for more comfort. They also have a wing on the chamois of very thin padding that extends down the inside of the thigh in the groin area to protect from chaffing in the exact area where the holes wore through on the Pearl Izumi shorts. The fabric of the Specialized RBX seems thinner but has a weave pattern that looks like rip-stop. They are more slippery against my saddle, which cuts down on friction. And the Specialized shorts were less expensive. So far, Specialized's Body Geometry products (gloves, bibs, shoes, saddles, etc.) have all exceeded expectations and turned out better for me than products from Pearl Izumi, Castelli, and Giro.I have two pair of mediums that are a little big, the small is a little too smallI didn't realize that the chamois doesn't hit my sit bones without lots of adjustment that doesn't hold as soon as I get out of the saddle until I rode a 400k brevet in them. The chamois was sewn about two inches too far back causing my sit bones to hit the upper edge of the padded portion and a seam. According to Pearl Izumi customer service, there's one size chamois for all garments and it's sewn center of the chamois to the center of the shorts. But this was solved with a sewing machine and a little trial and error.I have also noticed the cooling effect is enhanced while riding at night through fog and cross winds: arm and leg warmers, base layer and chilly back side. The quest for effective clothing is part of a beginner randonneur's learning curve.Other shorts where the chamois are sewn too far back for me:BontragerCastelliSpecializedAssos T Fi Uno chamois is placed in a pretty good spot.Gonna try Icebreaker, Sugoi, Ibex, Kucharik, and Voler.I have had these bibs for six months now and must say they are very nice. The Pros- Chamois is excellent and the quality and fit is great. I have purchased two of these bibs and have used them for Centuries and other long rides. Great comfort. The Cons- The bands on the bottom of the bibs that go around the quadriceps both have stretched out to the point they almost flap in the wind. (This has also happened on two other PI shorts I purchased that are a lower grade.) I hand wash my bibs immediately after each ride so I definitely take care of them. Also, the bibs developed small holes on the sit bone areas. This was due to a bike store employee who raised my seat too high which he said would improve my performance. I have since purchased Louis Garneau bibs with thicker quad bands. When I received these shorts I was getting ready to go out of town so I did not inspect them close enough. The material felt durable. The fit is true to size. I was looking forward to these Bib shorts. However, when I put them on to go for a ride I noticed that there is a tear in one of the seams. What is even more disappointing is that I was past my return time frame. I guess I will just have to do a better job inspecting purchases. For the price it is surprising that they have these quality issues. Reading other reviews others have had similar issues. Beware. The nicks were as stated on the ad. Medium fit for size (I bought large, I'm 6'/181cm tall with a short body). Great chamois, thick multilayer fabric feels tough and well constructed but breaths really well and doesn't feel hot.Cut shape bunches a little when standing around the coffee shop but fits great on the bike.I loved every aspect of this short. The material, the fantastic chamois, fit, comfort, and even the wide leg grips were great. But after one ride I found an odd ring of small cuts around my leg. After careful inspection I found that the edge of the grips has places of very abrasive materials. I took picture of my legs b/c I couldn't believe it! Surprised there are no other reviews eluding to this defect. I can't imagine that it only affects this one pair of shorts. Pearl Izumi... what's up?The fit on this bib is really good. I like the high front panel and the overall feel is great. The pad is comfortable but a bit too thick for me. Comfortable after a 40 mile ride I will be interested to see how it feels after 100!I like PI stuff to begin with and IMO they have the best chamois around that I've used; 13mm thick - I like it. High quality and for those who don't know bib shorts are the way to go. These are my preferred shorts anytime I'm doing a serious ride(i.e. 50-100+ miles). For short distances regular shorts are fine-but I still go with PI elite or PRO level for the chamois. SIDE NOTE: I like the black/white shorts because the white on the legs appears to have a reflective quality for increased visibility.Where the padding is sawn into the material it doesn't taper but there is a very thick ridge that causes a lot of friction and pulls your skin to shreds on long rides. For that price this is an extremely bad product. Do yourself a favour and get another pair of cycling shorts. Really, don't buy it!
